About Tsoungui Codes
Hello! I’m Christian Tsoungui Nkoulou, a software engineer based in the Atlanta area and currently pursuing my M.S. in Computer Science at Kennesaw State University. I have about five years of professional experience, primarily working with Flutter and Dart to build cross-platform applications for iOS and Android.
My journey into tech began in college. I originally studied mechanical engineering, where C introduced me to programming for the first time. I eventually realized that I was far more interested in software, so I switched to computer science. That decision completely changed the direction of my life and led me to a career building applications across industries including transportation, gaming, lottery, and beauty technology.
Although Flutter remains one of my strongest skills, I’m now working to deepen my understanding of computer science beyond application development. Through graduate school, personal projects, and independent study, I’m exploring topics such as algorithms, operating systems, artificial intelligence, information retrieval, privacy, and distributed systems. I want to understand not only how to build software, but also how and why the systems behind it work.
One of the projects I’m most excited about is GRIOT, a local-first, privacy-preserving personal AI assistant. I started building it because I’m interested in what personal AI could become if it were designed around the user instead of depending entirely on the cloud. The project gives me a practical way to explore on-device models, voice interaction, memory, AI agents, and software architecture while continuing to improve as an engineer.
Tsoungui Codes is where I share that journey. I write about Flutter, software architecture, computer science fundamentals, personal projects, and the lessons I learn as I continue growing. I don’t have everything figured out, but that is part of the reason I write: documenting what I’m learning helps me understand it more deeply, and I hope it can also help other developers navigating their own paths.
Outside of programming, I’m a distance runner, a guitarist, and a proud Cameroonian who grew up in Chad before moving to the United States. Those experiences have shaped how I see the world and continue to influence the kinds of problems, people, and possibilities I care about.
I’m still learning, still building, and still figuring out exactly where this journey will take me. I’m glad you’re here to follow along.
